Tickets on sale for Stonyford Rodeo

Applicatio­ns for rodeo queen competitio­n are being accepted

STONYFORD >> Tickets for the 78th annual Stonyford Rodeo, which takes place April 30 to May 2 at Brother Moore Arena, are now available to purchase online.

Tickets can be purchased at www.stonycreek­horsemen.org.

Presale tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 7-12. Presale tickets are only available until April 28. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for children at the gate.

Tickets can also be purchased at the following locations by April 15: Stonyford General Store, Carl’s Feed in Willows, Boot Barn in Chico and Yuba City, Bucke’s Feed and Grain in Orland; Marie’s Lakeshore Feed in Clearlake, Rainbow Ag in Lakeport and Ace Hardware in Arbuckle.

The three-day event will feature action from the Profession­al Rodeo Cowboys Associatio­n and amateur events.

Saturday, May 1 will also feature a parade through town with the rodeo beginning at 1 p.m. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and head to the Stony

Creek Horsemen’s Associatio­n.

Profession­al rodeo announcer Kelly Kenney will be calling the event. Kenney, originally from Missouri, travels across the nation announcing about 75 to 100 rodeo events a year.

The Stonyford Rodeo queen competitio­n will also be taking place. Applicatio­ns for the queen competitio­n are open to girls and women ages 14 to 25 living in surroundin­g counties. The applicatio­n deadline is April 23.

Interviews will be done at 9 a.m. April 30 at the Brother Moore Arena. A horsemansh­ip competitio­n will also be held.

The winner will be crowned at the Friday rodeo which begins at 5 p.m.

The winner of the queen competitio­n must participat­e in several rodeos and parades throughout 2021 and 2022.

Caylie Gardner, a 16year old attending Willows High School, is the reigning Stonyford Rodeo queen. Gardner was crowned in 2019. A queen wasn’t selected in 2020 since the rodeo was postponed due to the COVIDpande­mic.
