Are we really solving world problems?
We’ve supported Jihadis since 1979, first to defeat the Russians in Afghanistan. We seem unaware of the long history of Afghanistan ( known as the Graveyard of Empires) in defeating great powers including Genghis Kahn, Alexander the Great, England, Russia, and now America. We are “saving” the world from despots with bombs while China is helping countries build infrastructure. Over a trillion dollars, 300 million per day for 20 years, and the deaths of thousands of US soldiers, nearly 50 thousand Afghanies and over a million innocent lives in the Middle East has not produced any positive outcomes.
General Smedly Butler, twice a medal of honor recipient, wrote “War Is A Racket.” Win or lose, our military industries and private contractors are rolling in dough, dipping in to an endless supply of taxpayer money — over half of our national budget, every year. Iraq, iran, Syria, Libya, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and more. We threaten and sanction (a form of war) everyone. Our war ships patrol the South Cinna Sea, and the Black Sea, with obvious implications for China and Russia, while their presence on our Atlantic or Pacific coasts would not be tolerated. Considering the results of our policies, maybe the goal is more about frightening the American people to loosen the purse strings of our treasury to wring out fabulous amounts of money, often unaccounted for, for the war machine — not to solve world problems at all. — Jeanne Thatcher, Chico
