PARADISE >> For the Paradise High School varsity football team, hopefully, the third time is a charm.

The Bobcats are scheduled to open their season and their home schedule Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. against visiting Enterprise High.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday night but is now set for Thursday night.

The Bobcats have had both of their previous home openers canceled due to COVID-19 exposure.

The Bobcats’ original home opener was supposed to be Aug. 27 against Corning, but Corning had to cancel.

Then last week the Red Bluff Spartans were scheduled to play at Om Wraith field but that game was also canceled by the visitors due to COVID-19 concerns.

So Friday night, the Bobcats will welcome in an old adversary in the Enterprise Hornets.

Enterprise is unbeaten on the

year with a 2-0 record.

The Hornets beat Del Norte, 28-20 on Aug. 27, and beat Gridley 34-6 last Friday night.

It will be the first meeting since Nov. 1, 2019, when the Bobcats defeated Enterprise 48-26.

The Bobcats return senior running back Tyler Harrison who has gained 3,171 yards and scored 38 touchdowns and 18 varsity games for the Bobcats.

Harrison has also averaged 10.7 yards per carry.

Also, returning for Paradise is Ashton Wagner, a defensive lineman and running back, who has scored

14 Bobcat touchdowns in 24 games.

Enterprise High is led by Alex Saefong, who has rushed for 140 yards on the season in the two Hornet wins.

Quarterback Demarreya Lewis-Cooper has completed

27 of 40 passes for 538 yards in the two victories.

He has thrown seven touchdown passes and just one interception on the season. He has also helped out in the running game, gaining 87 yards on 12 carries.

His favorite target has been Jahari Johnson who has caught 12 passes for 341 yards and has caught six of Lewis-Cooper’s seven touchdown passes.
