Art, wine walk features 20 businesses
CHICO » The Art and Wine Walk will take place in downtown Chico with work from local artists, live music and locally produced wine today.
The free event is a partnership between the Downtown Chico Business Association and Chico State Alumni Association. It will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. and see nearly 20 downtown businesses holding receptions in participation with the event while a select few will hold “signature receptions”‘ with tastings.
“There are eight different businesses in downtown where you can stop by and pick up your branded glass and it says ‘Art and Wine Walk' and then on the back of it, it says, ‘Chico State Alumni Association,'” said Downtown Chico Business Association Communications Director Katie Valenzuela. “You can meet the artist; you can get some little appetizers and then we pair that with either a winery, a brewery or we have one cidery as well.”
Businesses with tastings are Art Etc. featuring Lassen Traditional Cider, Diamond W. Western Wear featuring Raging Bull Winery, For Elyse featuring Almendra Winery and Distillery, Urban Couture featuring New Clairvaux Winery, Made in Chico featuring Mood Swing Wines, Kirk's Jewelry featuring Gale Vineyards, Chico Paper Company featuring Sierra Nevada Brewery Co. and The Allies Pub featuring British Bulldog Brewery.
Live music will take place in front of storefronts. For this year's event, the musicians will be The Season of Us in front of Kirk's Jewelers, Trinity Accordion Gathering in front of Chico Paper Company, Jazz Impressions in front of Little Red Hen Home and Chico Saxophone Quartet on First Street between A Beautiful Life Furnishings and Art Etc.
Valenzuela said the art in downtown businesses will stay up for roughly a month following the Friday reception. The styles range from a mixture of paintings, ceramics, and sculptures.
