The Plumas National Forest Service is reopening multiple district offices including those in Oroville and Quincey.

According to a press release issued Tuesday by the National Forest Service, many officers were closed due to the threat of COVID-19 during the pandemic and had remained so until recent drops in numbers.

Opening up is the Feather River Ranger District which is located at 875 Mitchell Ave. in Oroville as well as the Mount Hough Ranger District located at 39696 at Highway 70 in Quincey. In addition to these two offices reopening, the Beckwourth Ranger District at 27 Mohawk Highway in Blairsden will also be open to the public.

“We know the lack of inperson services has been hard on our communities,” said Plumas National Forest Supervisor Chris Carlton. “We’re happy conditions have improved, and excited to start providing in-person customer service in our District offices again, even on a reduced schedule.”

The supervisor’s office in Quincey will remain closed due to staffing shortages, though the release said supervisors are working to bridge that gap so that it can reopen as well.

“This is just the first phase of reopening our offices to the public. The patience and understanding of our area residents and visitors as we transition from virtual to more in-person service over the coming weeks is greatly appreciated,” Carlton said.

The release said masks are not currently required for residents to enter the offices.

“Customers and visitors experiencing COVID-19 symptoms are asked not to come into the office, but rather contact their local Forest office for service over the phone,” the release said.
