OROVILLE » Oroville residents will soon be able to chow down at Arby’s.

The restaurant is the sixth Arby’s location owned and operated by Fremont based franchise group Kang Foods LLC, founded by brothers Anoop and Bikram Kang. The Oroville restaurant will be the second Arby’s in Butte County, joining Kang Foods’ Chico location, according to a press release.

According to Anoop Kang, the opening is expected for late April.

Kang is the owner of the Oroville Arby’s as well as the Chico location on the Skyway. Plans to open the Arby’s have been in place for a year.

“We purchased the Chico location 2 years ago and we became familiar with Oroville and saw the growth there,” Kang said. “The construction is going extremely well and looks really nice. The 2022 prototype for Arby’s includes taller ceilings, cement tile, a double drive through, etc.”

The 2,300 square foot Oroville restaurant will be the first ground-up Northern California Arby’s in more than 40 years. The restaurant will feature 24 indoor seats and 12 patio seats The team is set to deliver a pleasant guest experience. The restaurant’s modern design showcases current colors, décor treatments and ultra-modern accents, including warm woods, subway tiles, stainless steel finishes, chalkboard graphics, an open ceiling with exposed ductwork, upgraded landscaping and a Nichiha-paneled exterior, according to a press release.

“We’re waiting on PG&E for a few parts. The plan is to hire 40 people. We’ve already hired 25 to 30 people. We’ve had training at the Chico location,” Kang said.

The double drive through is based on the example of Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s double drive throughs.

“We are pretty excited about it,” said Kang. “It’s an extra convenience for customers. With the trends right now, 75 percent of our business is based on drivethrough sales.”

Oroville was home to an Arby’s four or five years ago which closed down after the lease expired. That location was on the other side of the city on Olive Highway.

“Our location will be better; closer to the freeway,” said Kang. “We’re excited about the overall flow. People are really excited about the opening and we are as well. Right now people drive from Oroville to Chico to eat at Arby’s.”

Arby’s signature roast beef sandwich is a popular menu item, as well as both beef and cheddar and brisket sandwiches.

“We’re ready to ‘meat’ the high demands and hearty appetites in Oroville for Arby’s signature slow-roasted beef, brisket and sides with our newest restaurant,” said Kang. “The area is growing and brimming with new developments, and we’re excited to introduce Arby’s to the local landscape. We’ve built this location from the ground up with Oroville’s thriving, family-focused community in mind, and we’re looking forward to making Arby’s even more accessible to fans throughout Butte County.”
