- By Kyra Gottesman

The Maverik truck stop at the corner of Oro Dam East and Feather River boulevards is participating in a company-wide program to help those effected by the war in Ukraine.

Starting today Maverik customers will have the opportunity to participate in a “round up your change” register donation program. Customers can round up their transaction to the nearest dollar to help provide humanitarian relief to those impacted by the crisis.

“We know that our Oroville customers and team members care about the crisis in Ukraine and want to help. The ‘round up’ program is an easy way for our community to spare some change when visiting their local Maverik, and collectively make a big impact on providing humanitarian aid where it’s needed most,” said Zach Widdison, district manager of Maverik in Oroville.

All donations received from the round-up program which will run through April 28 will be given to the American Red Cross to support its effort to provide humanitarian aid to people affected by the crisis in Ukraine.

The Red Cross is currently on the ground distributing food, delivering medicine and medical supplies, assisting with evacuations, and providing shelter.

Cash or credit donations up to 99 cents per transaction will be accepted at the Maverik stores. Anyone interested in donating $10 or more can do so by visiting https://maverik.com/ redcross.

“We’re terribly saddened by the events in Ukraine. Our hearts and minds are with everyone impacted by this conflict. Our customers and team members have expressed they also want to help and we’re grateful to be able to activate this donation program allowing everyone to respond,” said Chuck Maggelet , Maverik president in a press release.

In addition to the customer round up donation program, Maverik made a $50,000 contribution to the Red Cross.

“Thanks to Maverik’s generous support, the global Red Cross network is helping families impacted by continued fighting in Ukraine. We are grateful for partners like Maverik as we work together to help provide critical humanitarian relief in response to the Ukraine crisis,” said Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross in a press release.

The Oroville Maverik location is joining the company’s more than 380 other locations across 12 western states in participating in the round-up your change program.
