-

Dennis Dale Frazier Sr. went to be with our Lord August 25th, 2022.

(The following was written in Dennis’ own words)

Dennis was born in Berkeley, California on December 11, 1942 to Wallace James Frazier & Elsie Clara (Castoro) Frazier.

Dennis grew up in Brentwood, California on his grandfather’s farm and orchard. His elementary and high school years were split between Castro Valley and San Jose, Ca., graduating

from Willow Glen HS, class of 1960.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 19611965. On leave from military service, he met his future wife at Mary Anne Gardens in San Jose. Dennis was immediately captivated by her beauty and personality. Six months later, Dennis and Beverly Jean Supnet were married in November of 1963.

With his military service completed, Dennis and Beverly started their family with the birth of Dennis Jr., followed by Russell and Stacey. After working for a few years, Dennis decided to attend college. While taking classes at San Jose Community College and later at Santa Clara University, Dennis worked several part-time jobs and eventually started a lawn service business.

Dennis graduated from Santa Clara University Magna Cum Laude in political science. He then took a year-long internship in the CORO Foundation, one of only 24 candidates nationwide. He worked several month-long internships throughout the San Francisco area. It was exciting, educational, and a once in a lifetime adventure. Following CORO, Dennis finished a Master of Arts degree in Urban Studies at Occidental College.

At CORO, Dennis was introduced to the California public sector labor movement, joining the OCEA in Santa Ana. For 9 years, he experienced labor relations from the union standpoint. Later, as a Labor Relations Specialist at UCLA, he learned management’s side. He then moved to California State University, Chico as a Human Resources generalist and later became staff Human Resources Director/ Labor Relations designee.

After 22 years at Chico State, Dennis retired at age 59 due to an unnecessary heart surgery which caused an aortic aneurysm. All through this ordeal, Dennis relied on the Lord to keep him focused and without fear. Seven years after retirement, he unretired for two years as CSU, Chico’s interim Facilities Management Director.

Dennis was a Christian and taught Sunday School for 1st and 2nd grade children for 2 decades. He also sang in the choir and participated in several men’s Bible studies through which he made lifetime friends. Other interests included gardening, especially colorful flowers. His primary focus, however, was providing for his

p g family. He often loved having group dinners at restaurants. Family was

important to him; he always said that next to God, family comes first.

He is survived by his still beautiful wife of 58 years; his sisters Kathy and Claire; his children Dennis Jr., Russell, and Stacey Asher (Dale); five grandchildren: Briana, Isaac, William, Hannah, and AnnaShea; three step-grandchildren: Amanda, Hayden and Andy; and eight greatgrandchildren.

A Celebration of Dennis’ Life is scheduled on Thursday, September 8, 2022, 3pm, at Valley Christian Family Church, 3180 Rancho Rd., Redding, CA.
