Another nod for Nava in District 4

-

It’s unfortunate that District 4 city council candidate Addison Winslow devoted his candidate statement to Mickey Mouse attacks on his opponent, Nichole Nava, rather than to his qualifications and plans for office.

I have been following Nava’s efforts closely for awhile. Nava used the word “enabler” only to describe the group of people who routinely handed out drug kits in kids’ parks, and who encouraged the drugfilled encampments at city hall and elsewhere. Nava intended no reference to the tragedy that had occurred at Teichert Ponds.

Nava never encouraged members of a social media group to hound Huber out of office after he took an outof-state job during his council tenure. This is all just mudslinging.

The real question is, why wouldn’t Winslow elect to run a positive campaign that emphasizes his readiness and expertise regarding all the various components that go into running a city? Could it be because he feels he is short on substantial real-world experience, expertise, and plans, beyond housing ideas that amount to simplistic shortcuts?

Nava isn’t devoting energy to smearing her opposition. She’s too busy doing the hard work of walking her district door to door, connecting with residents about their needs and priorities, and discussing practical, achievable solutions regardless of party. She does this on top of her full-time social service job. That is how a comprehensively qualified candidate with experience, extensive policy proposals, and a multi-faceted success record acts. Brava Nava.
