Now is no time to ‘stay the course’
I have heard most of the candidates running in this election, some of them several times.
Max Steiner, running for Congress, is energetic, politically moderate, a combat veteran, who cares very much about the issues important to the north state, especially water issues and fire mitigation.
David Leon Zink, himself a survivor of the catastrophic fires in this area, is running for Assembly District 3. He is a community leader who is already working to facilitate fire recovery for our devastated communities. He also supports universal healthcare and affordable housing.
Speaking of affordable housing, we have four wonderful candidates running for
City Council, all of whom will work to make Chico a city that works for everyone.
Addison Winslow wants to solve the homeless problem with affordable housing and community services, and create more bike- and pedestrianfriendly spaces.
Morgan Kennedy wants to repair our streets and sidewalks, clean up Lindo Channel, and incentivize builders to provide affordable housing.
Jesica Giannola’s top priority is creating affordable housing with infill instead of sprawl, and investment in Chico’s extraordinary parks.
Monica McDaniel brings vast budgeting experience. Her main concern is public safety with regard to fire, flooding, and crime. She advocates affordable housing, and wants to clean up Lindo Channel.
See a trend? These people want to actually solve the problems troubling our community. I heard the two incumbent City Councilors who are running, both say Chico is doing fine, and we should just stay the course. Really?
