Just following the 2018 Camp Fire, Mindful Littles worked with Paradise Unified School District to help children deal with the Camp Fire stressed. On Friday, the organization was back at Paradise Ridge Elementary School campus passing out Peace Kits to the children at the school.

The student mindfulness tools were selected by Mindful Littles staff with our students’ specific needs in mind. With the help of local area Starbucks employees, Mindful Littles staff assembled 750 Peace Kits distributed to students to take home on Friday.
“This peace kit is just to offer some support to the kiddos since there are some uncertainties with the fire season and COVID,” Mindful Littles’ Marianne Whitfield said. “We just wanted to offer them a gift that could reinforce some of the lessons that we are teaching in the classroom.”
The program first arrived in the district when it reached out to Ponderosa Elementary after it was displaced to Durham Elementary School due to the 2018 Camp Fire. One of the things that kids in 2019 that the kids made gifts for firefighters, Whitfield said.
Whitfield said that the program did so well that they received a grant in 2019 from the North Valley Community Foundation. Whitfield added that the program is offering services to veteran families as well as communities impacted by fires and other natural disasters.
