Sarah Bienvenu: First Day of Summer 2013, watercolor

Winterowd Fine Art, 701 Canyon Road, 505-992-8878 Sarah Bienvenu’s plein-air watercolor paintings of landscapes explore color and patterns using reductive forms. Close to Home is an exhibit of paintings the artist made in the Sangre de Cristo, Cerrillos, and La Puebla regions of New Mexico, as well in locales closer to Santa Fe. “Special mountains, rivers and trees that all feel like home to me are what this exhibition is about,” Bienvenu explained. “These specific mounds of earth and growing things have become long time friends.” The show opens Friday, May 8, with a 5 p.m. reception.
