Mixed Media Santa Fe Pride 2015
A vast array of Pride events occur this weekend, beginning Friday, June 26, at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center Courtyard (201 W. Marcy St.). Friday at 6 p.m. marks the monthly meeting of the gay social group Friends of Dorothy, where a $5 suggested cover charge benefits Santa Fe HRA Pride. The Venus Ladies Dance begins at 9 p.m. at the Convention Center, and the men’s Locker Room Dance starts at 10 p.m. down the street at Blue Rooster (101 W. Marcy St.). Each dance has a cover charge of $10. Saturday, June 27, kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with the Bottoms Up Pride Brunch at The High Note (132 W. Water St.), featuring a continental breakfast, cocktails, and coffee for $10. The Santa Fe Pride parade — “Color Our World with Pride” — starts at 1 p.m. at the PERA building (1120 Paseo de Peralta) and winds its way through downtown to the post office on South Federal Place. The Pride Festival, sponsored by Santa Fe HRA, is from 2 to 6 p.m. on the Plaza. Alt-Pride, another group hosting events this weekend, sponsors Queertopia at Iconik Coffee Roasters (1600 Lena St.), at 4 p.m., an arts exhibition, poetry reading, and drag show with cocktails by Susan’s Fine Wine and Spirits. At 8 p.m., alt-Pride and the Lulz Comedy Show present lesbian stand-up legend Cameron Esposito at Skylight (139 W. San Francisco St.), along with a few local comics. Tickets to the 18-and-over-show are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and can be purchased by visiting the bar’s website. Santa Fe HRA and Blue Rooster team up for the Rooster Pride Party at 9 p.m. Fifteen dollars gets you into Blue Rooster and the Convention Center to dance to DJ Oona, DJ Guttermouth, and King George. Finally, on Sunday, June 28, Pride wraps up with a Tea Dance on the roof of the Drury Plaza Hotel (828 Paseo de Peralta) from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets to the event, which is a benefit for the HRA scholarship fund, are $20, and there is a cash bar.
