Straight from Vegas: Jerry López and Friends

-

Jerry López grew up in Santa Fe, performing music as a kid with his brother, Gilbert, in the 1960s. The young boys garnered a fan base before they were even old enough to attend school and were professional recording artists by their teens. In the 1970s, looking to broaden their musical repertoire and audience, the brothers moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where today Jerry López is a member of Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns. He has performed with Gloria Estefan, Carlos Santana, and Ricky Martin. Jerry López and Friends play their popular brand of New Mexico, Latino, and Chicano music at the Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St.) on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m. The concert is a benefit for the Josie Torralba Romero Scholarship Fund of the National Latino Behavioral Health Association. Tickets, $20 to $50, are available by calling 505-988-1234 or visiting www.ticketssantafe.org.
