TEND THE GREEN GARDEN and the human landscape. Pay mindful attention to the healthy, burgeoning, natural world, and let that enthusiasm infuse every cell of our body. Friday’s new moon in Taurus heralds one of the most fecund weekends of the year. With Venus, Mercury, and the sun in fertile, earthy Taurus throughout the week, we can honor our mother, the Earth, for Mother’s Day, and take stability back to our more complex and stubborn family festivities.

It’s a rich week for all that can take root and grow. Body language and creative process can come through loud and clear, though ordinary words and electrical gadgets may need extra attention with Mercury retrograde and in a trine with deep Pluto and expansive Jupiter, all in concrete Earth signs. Do not ignore the “check engine” light, as Mercury retrograde in an Earth sign can herald pragmatic physical difficulties with tools we use to transport and communicate.

Mercury retrograde brings forward people, places, and things from the past — that is its gift. It’s a good time to repurpose or recycle things we no longer use, look for missing items and long-lost friends, or research past political exploits. This retrograde can bring our minds back to some uncomfortable places but with the hope of breaking that cycle. As always, we don’t get to choose the planetary pattern, but we can choose how we respond to it.

Venus is strong in Taurus, so we can lean into Venusian skills to help with our challenges. Poetry rolls around our brains and brings understanding, whereas attempts to be straightforward can miss the mark. We need to listen with our hearts, and make sure others receive what we send.

FRIDAY, MAY 6: Prepare new beginnings this morning — plant f lowers, love, and possibilities after the new moon in Taurus. Notice where stubbornness is a gift and where it causes problems this afternoon. Share what renews and heals tonight.

SATURDAY, MAY 7: Let trivial chores wait as the sun trines Pluto. Garden early — change to pruning, weeding, and editing after the moon enters Gemini this morning. This afternoon is sociable, though full of loose ends. Tonight can feel edgy as the moon opposes cranky Mars.

SUNDAY, MAY 8: To celebrate Mother’s Day, bring your mother breakfast in bed this morning or gather with others this evening. Honor Mother Earth and feel love beyond family expectations as the moon opposes serious Saturn.

MONDAY, MAY 9: Although we’re not technically or mentally ready for Monday, some very positive aspects warm our hearts this morning, if we have time to listen. Jupiter turns direct after months in retrograde, and enthusiasm begins to return. Our creative hearts warm as Venus sextiles Neptune, but we may want to curl up in cozy safety as the moon enters self-protective and domestic Cancer.

TUESDAY, MAY 10: Our longing can come in strange forms — we are deeply aware of what is out of reach or no longer possible. Let the feelings f low. It’s important to strengthen connections.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 11: Emphasize relationships on this relatively friendly, low-energy morning. Expectations and energy pick up as the moon enters Leo this afternoon. Work through logistical strains or an old grudge as Venus quincunxes Saturn around dinnertime.

THURSDAY, MAY 12: Keep a sense of humor about interruptions and return to the truly deep conversation as Mercury trines Pluto. Important revelations wait just under the surface. ◀
