A tremen­dous mu­sic and en­ter­tain­ment lineup en­hances the fes­tive am­biance of the In­ter­na­tional Folk Art Mar­ket on Mu­seum Hill, be­gin­ning Fri­day evening, July 8, with Ma­madou Kelly at 7:15 p.m., and con­tin­u­ing Saturday morn­ing, July 9, at 9:30 a.m., when mem­bers of Santa Fe Dance­works Studio, ac­com­pa­nied by the band Lone Piñon, demon­strate tra­di­tional Mex­i­can dances. Mu­sic from Malaysian Bor­neo and Hun­gary fol­lows at 10:45 a.m., and at 11:35 a.m., Marim­bas of the World take the stage with mu­si­cians from West Africa, Gu­atemala, and Mex­ico. Yjas­tros, the pro­fes­sional dance com­pany of the Na­tional In­sti­tute of Fla­menco, per­forms at 12:45 p.m., and Ma­madou Kelly plays again at 2 p.m. The day con­cludes with Balkan song and dance by the Turk­ish group EVET at 3:30 p.m. Mathew Ngau Jau opens the mar­ket Sunday morn­ing at 10 a.m. with more sounds from Malaysian Bor­neo, fol­lowed at 10:40 a.m. by Wassa Drum and Dance, with tra­di­tional West African pieces. Yjas­tros dances again at 11:45 a.m., and the Quang Minh Bud­dhist Youth Lion Dance Team from Viet­nam wows the crowd with a 10-minute demon­stra­tion at 12:25 p.m. The Odara Dance En­sem­ble per­forms tra­di­tional dances from Cuba and Trinidad at 12:40 p.m., Ma­madou Kelly takes the stage for a fi­nal per­for­mance at 2 p.m., and the last act of the day is Cuban mu­sic of the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s by Tradi­ciones. Through­out the weekend, Mario Reynolds plays An­dean f lute mu­sic on the steps be­tween the up­per and lower lev­els of the mar­ket.
