The Holiday Fall Fiber Fiesta

-

Lose yourself in a colorful sea of handmade scarves, shawls, hats, purses, and more at the fourth annual Holiday Fall Fiber Fiesta at the Scottish Rite Center (463 Paseo de Peralta). The event, organized by the Española Valley Fiber Arts Center, is the largest show in Santa Fe exclusively dedicated to handmade creations of local fiber artists. Nearly all of the participating artists are from Northern New Mexico, and many of them use hand-spun indigenous sheep and buffalo wool in their work, in keeping with EVFAC’s mission of fostering and perpetuating regional fiber traditions. EVFAC, located in Española and open to the public as well as members, was founded in 1995 and offers workshops and classes in addition to a full range of fiber-arts supplies. (For a small fee, you can walk in off the street and learn to weave on the spot.) The family-friendly event in Santa Fe includes weaving, spinning, and knitting demonstrations as well as a craft corner where kids can make items to take home and a pop-up café catered by Two Sprouts Farm. The Fiber Fiesta opens with a preview and cocktail reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18; admission to that event is $10. On Saturday, Nov. 19, and Sunday, Nov. 20, admission is free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.evfac.org. — Jennifer Levin
