RENDER BENDER
For a second year, the Center for Contemporary Arts brings back its family-friendly event and fundraiser which supports its visual arts program and is a fun-filled opportunity to see dozens of local artists at work. Equipped with supplies, they are set up at long tables and draw during two hour-long periods, with a break in between. The drawings are hung on the gallery walls and are bid on in an auction led by the evening’s emcee, Westin McDowell of The Shiners Club Jazz Band. Each drawing costs $75 and is sold to the first person to make a claim; purchased artworks can be taken home at the end of the evening. Participating artists — about 50 artists in all — include Caity Kennedy, Cheri Ibes, Jeffrey Schweitzer, Matthew Chase-Daniel, and Erika Wanenmacher. takes place on Saturday, March 25, beginning at 5 p.m. The evening includes food and drinks, along with live music and activities. The cover charge is $10 at the door; it’s free for children under twelve. CCA is at 1050 Old Pecos Trail; call 505-982-1338 for information. — Michael Abatemarco
