Patricia Dombrowski (Danielle Macdonald) is a young woman with no prospects who is living in a rundown town in New Jersey. With nothing to lose, she decides to chase the American dream by reinventing herself as Killa P or Patti Cake$ (depending on the day), and attempting a career as a rapper. She’s got skills, but she doesn’t have many resources or the conventional good looks of women performers who make it to the big time. But she’s not about to let that stop her. Rated R. 108 minutes.
