Gálvez’s large-scale portraits have delicate tonal quality — the result of his use of the Renaissance grisaille technique, in which translucent colors are applied over monochromatic underpainting. He captures the contemplative gaze and symmetry of the human face in his images of contemporary women. The exhibition La Naturalista: Iconos de Luz opens with a 5 p.m. reception.
