DON’T JUST SAY IT, DO IT. Show love through practical action. With Mercury, the sun, Venus, Saturn, and Pluto all in durable Capricorn, we want to see progress and feel our work is appreciated — and we are really thankful when people help us in tangible ways.

The weekend begins under a relatively upbeat and wildlife-oriented Sagittarius moon — a moon that can help us lighten the conversation and explore possibilities in a serious time. We wish for well-organized plans and long for clearly delineated steps forward as Mercury conjuncts Saturn this weekend. We tend to take things seriously. The moon joins the party in Capricorn on Sunday, and there’s not much we can’t do once we get started. The trick will be not to feel overwhelmed by the amount of work to do or give into midwinter blues.

Venus and the sun both square restless Uranus through Monday. This aspect can leave us irritable if we feel stuck but infuses us with ingenuity when we are inspired. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday on Monday reminds us of the Capricorn ideal. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech exemplifies the best of Capricorn, the ability to dive down deep within for a vision and walk that dream to fruition with competence and endurance.

On Tuesday, the new moon in Capricorn can initiate the next step of our journey. It’s good for us to contemplate what mountains we want to climb in the year ahead and feed those dreams by remembering what we’ve accomplished in the last year. A hopeful sextile between Jupiter and Pluto can encourage this process.

Wednesday and Thursday bring a more political and sociable mood as the moon enters theoretical, collective Aquarius, but there are irritable undercurrents as Mars forms a quincunx with Uranus. Let’s manage our moods so we don’t set off others.

FRIDAY, JAN. 12: There’s lots to be done and minor frustrations to work around, but we still need to take a break and walk, chuckle, and strengthen resilience during this busy time. It helps to reach out of familiar comfort zones under the active, exploratory Sagittarius moon.

SATURDAY, JAN. 13: Don’t get grim — plan and make design decisions as Venus squares Uranus. Learn how to achieve short-term, specific personal goals, preferably ones that use the muscles. Tonight, we need to talk and may say too much as Mercury challenges Jupiter. Watch those tweets.

SUNDAY, JAN. 14: It will be hard to control the circumstances, and that stirs anxieties as the moon enters competent Capricorn. Let an unexpected situation inspire action — if something bothers us, let’s fix it.

MONDAY, JAN. 15: A dreamy, imaginative semisquare between Venus and Neptune helps us conjure up possibilities and reminds us of our ideals, but don’t let our worries run the show. Prepare for the worst and aim for the best.

TUESDAY, JAN. 16: There may be a lot of behind-the-scenes strategizing and organizing before the new moon in Capricorn, close to Venus, tonight. Look for important announcements in the next few days. Organize, decide, or put a team together.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 17: Now is the time to apply for a job or declare candidacy as Venus and the moon enter Aquarius. We may be a little oblivious in our personal relationships, but our eyes should be focused on the bigger picture.

THURSDAY, JAN. 18: An irritable, accident-prone, yet still ambitious Mercury semi-squares Mars can provoke us yet offer an opportunity to heal a misconception. Offer and ask for simple mutual support.
