THIS FIRST WEEK OF MARCH rolls in like a lamb and out like a lion. After a foggy, drifting weekend and sharp edges on Monday, the winds shift on Tuesday, bringing a whiff of springtime. Mercury and Venus both enter fiery, brash Aries, the rocket fuel of the zodiac, two weeks before spring begins.

There’s a reason why most revolutions get underway in the springtime. The crocus pushing through the remnants of snow is a rebel against the winter. The simple, straightforward energy we need to start over, again and again, brings a revolution each year. This year looks like it could be a lulu, so let’s think about where we need a revolution.

Through the weekend, Mercury, Venus, Neptune, the sun, and three asteroids are all in subtle Pisces and bring out our sensitivities, underlining personal doubts about the complexity of our situations. The moon is in relationship-oriented Libra over the weekend, so be tender with one another and share a dream. Even if we’re feeling unusually vulnerable, we can’t expect others to guess what we need; we have to be clear.

The sun conjuncts intuitive, confusing Neptune on Sunday, increasing our sense of permeability. We can feel at one with the world or swamped and wanting to escape. If we’ve had the flu or have just been busy, we may feel tired and easily overwhelmed, and we need to pace ourselves.

A Scorpio moon brings a difficult edginess to the beginning of the week. On Tuesday, Venus and Mercury enter Aries, lending us more energy and simplifying our answers. An outspoken, impatient Sagittarius moon on Wednesday and Thursday gets the ball rolling.

FRIDAY, MARCH 2: Don’t waste time on petty recriminations or selfcriticisms. Mercury trines Jupiter and can help us see the bigger picture. Let people process their week’s troubles or take care of their health tonight.

SATURDAY, MARCH 3: Our sensitivities can echo off one another and hurt; assume people are clumsy, not malicious, and maybe also a little needy under this friendly Libra moon. Empathy helps our work toward harmony and beauty as Venus challenges Uranus. This evening can bring communication challenges.

SUNDAY, MARCH 4: Pray, meditate, paint, or escape to a beautiful place as the sun conjuncts magical, confusing Neptune. We can feel unusually affected by other people’s vibes, so let’s put ourselves in healthy surroundings. Tonight, take a deep breath before the busy week ahead.

MONDAY, MARCH 5: A strong competitive edge or suspicious attitude can complicate simple dealings — don’t take the bait. Practice patience, and don’t take things personally. Follow up on unfinished business. After tomorrow, people will be less concerned with cleaning up and more interested in new work.

TUESDAY, MARCH 6: Momentum and urgency begin to build, but if we feel hemmed in or worried that we won’t be heard, the mood can grow explosive. Tonight, the Scorpio moon approaches a conjunction with Jupiter and expands our sense of the possible.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7: We can turn recent tension into constructive action if we stay focused as the moon enters responsive Sagittarius. Sound out potential allies, offer aid, and enlist theirs.

THURSDAY, MARCH 8: Be honest. No one is feeling particularly subtle, so try to tactfully get to the point. We can be easily distracted by whatever grabs our imagination or swept away by a moment’s urgency, but we can make real progress where we have a good plan and follow through.
