The Edible Art Tour
There are more restaurants and galleries in this town than you can shake a stick at. Trying every menu would be a daunting task — as would be attempting to see all the art at once. But it’s a worthwhile endeavor, and your annual chance to try this challenge is at EAT: ARTsmart’s Edible Art Tour 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 8, and Saturday, June 9. Participants stroll the streets of Santa Fe, stopping into various galleries, which have partnered with local restaurants to offer a moveable feast. Of course, not every single Santa Fe eatery and gallery is represented, but there’s no better way to consume your fill and feed your aesthetic soul while also contributing to a good cause. ARTsmart provides art education and programs throughout Northern New Mexico — serving more than 9,500 students — including classes in schools, after school, and during the summers, as well as workshops for incarcerated youth.
For the reasonable price of $35 per person, ticket-holders can attend either or both nights of the roving event. Friday night takes place on Canyon Road; Saturday night is downtown. Among the gallery and restaurant pairings are The Betterday Dine-In and Belle Brook Designs (821 Canyon Road), Radish & Rye and Owen Contemporary (225 Canyon Road), Jambo Café and Pippin Contemporary (409 Canyon Road), Cheesemongers of Santa Fe and 7 Arts Gallery (125 Lincoln Ave.), Gabriel’s Restaurant and Peña Studios + Gallery (102 E. Water St.), and Sazón and The Torres Gallery (102 E. Water St.). A Friday night kick-off party begins at 5 p.m. at Gallery 901 (555 Canyon Road). Tickets are available at multiple locations, including on ARTsmart’s website.
