SUMMER DAYS HEAT UP as we celebrate the solar return this week. The sun moves into a grand trine with Jupiter and Neptune, helping us to laze by the pool and relax with family. But when we’re not in such a mellow or creative place, we may need to wrestle with Neptune.
Each planet is a symbol of a wide spectrum. The cure for the negative expression of a planet is always to engage the positive aspect. Jupiter expands whatever it touches — as it trines Neptune through August, we need to find a way of using Neptune’s positive attributes: oceanic connection, spirituality, imagination, and empathy. We also need to deal with its negative aspects: cultural delusion, addiction, victimization, and martyrdom. When we feel overwhelmed by a personal concern or a political issue, it is important to let any anger wash through like a flash flood, and use our Neptunian imagination to find a solution, a goal we can reach toward with our whole being.
Friday brings an industrious Capricorn moon, letting us see what work we need to do and helping us to get to it. If we start to get depressed, let’s take a moment in our happy places, whether by meditating or hugging a loved one. A sociable Aquarius moon over the weekend encourages us to participate in community events. Building community is never a waste of time; it strengthens the resiliency of the bonds we need.
We may feel political and personal disconnection as Mercury squares restless, electrical Uranus this weekend, winding up our nervous systems. Our emotions can get squishy on Monday, when the moon is in sensitive Pisces. The fireworks return on Wednesday, July 4, both in the sky and in our spirits, as the moon enters Aries, shifting the gears into action for the rest of the week.
FRIDAY, JUNE 29: Potentially troubled dreams or early morning moods lighten up into a productive day. Complete rather than initiate. Early evening grimness can lighten up as the moon enters Aquarius tonight.
SATURDAY, JUNE 30: Push out of the comfort zone as Mercury squares Uranus under a collective Aquarius moon; channel unusual energy or anxiety toward a good purpose. Watch out for edgy nerves or mechanical mishaps; be willing to change opinions based on new information. Express impatience cautiously tonight.
SUNDAY, JULY 1: The mood can be celebratory and impatient, but with a whispering melancholy. Notice what’s missing. Later on, a temporary disconnect or discomfort can be healed by acceptance as the moon opposes Venus.
MONDAY, JULY 2: Vulnerability calls us back to our comfort zones. If communication feels stilted as verbal Mercury challenges serious Saturn, it’s because there’s too much feeling rather than too little; extend reassurance. Expect minor delays; it might be good to have nothing in particular to do.
TUESDAY, JULY 3: What does freedom mean to us? Can it be healthy politics, a day off with no demands, or the liberty to explore? Let’s engage a vision of freedom. Our tenderness can be close to the surface, so don’t set off others’ defenses.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 4: The sun approaches a grand trine with Jupiter and Neptune, activating our hopes and fears for our country on the solar return. After a meandering, emotional day, fireworks enliven the night as the moon enters sparky Aries.
THURSDAY, JULY 5: We need to speak up. Though we may not necessarily be tactful, we are willing to fight for our philosophies. But don’t lose contact with beloveds in the process; keep the heart open.
