LET US BID WELCOME TO MIDSUMMER. At the peak of overheated days and sunlit evenings, it’s good to move slowly, tread carefully, and store up memories for the winter.

We may need extra calm through Friday and a bit of patience through early Saturday. But the weekend can be fun if not intimate, perfect for family gatherings, even if they’re woven through with wild headlines and a few chaotic moments. Friday brings the party with the full moon in community-oriented Aquarius, but it peaks with a potentially challenging lunar eclipse this afternoon. Eclipses can act like astrological acupuncture, shifting what’s been stuck and causing ripe fruit to fall. Some people or situations may feel eclipsed while others may get freed up.

The danger of a lunar eclipse is in its tendency to polarize any and every subject. But it can also spotlight where we’re already polarized so that we can take the next step toward healing. With Mercury and four other planets in retrograde right now, this eclipse could be a doozy. These retrogrades can grace us with lovely, quiet moments and a chance to catch up with ourselves, but can also really rake up problems from the past, add oddness to ordinary events, throw timing off, and increase accidents if we forget to pay attention. Practice mindfulness and stay awake and aware through the high and low tides this week. Let’s keep our hearts open if things get rough.

On Sunday, the moon enters Pisces, bringing us back in touch with our emotions and the people closest to us, though we may feel worn out after the full moon. Energy resurges on Wednesday and Thursday as the willful Aries moon engages us anew.

FRIDAY, JULY 27: We may love being around people even as we find them irritating. Some doors slam closed while others open, and melodrama touches the headlines as the full moon squares Uranus. Let’s dial it down and keep it out of our love lives. Be generous with talents and leadership while also appreciating others. We can be easily moved by art and stories tonight.

SATURDAY, JULY 28: Enjoy the farmers market. People can be a bit oblivious to personal relationships, but happy to see us in the group. Some frustrations in midmorning challenge timing and rhythm. Put safety first around sunset. Tonight, conversation can be challenging, but group activities are a joy.

SUNDAY, JULY 29: The energy level drops as the moon enters Pisces; we come back into our hearts. It helps to process a backlog of feelings. We may be touchy but will reward sensitive outreaches with real affection.

MONDAY, JULY 30: Imaginative but uncertain dreams drift in. Our spirits may be strong and our emotions active, but logic falters. People may not mean everything they say; give room for creative license but confirm facts.

TUESDAY, JULY 31: We can feel easily overwhelmed by new experiences or old stories. Don’t try to take on too much; take it one step at a time. Look for that calm center underneath. Don’t hold tight to something that needs to be released.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 1: Energy runs in fits and starts. Tempers can spike quickly and easily as Mars squares Uranus. Headlines will be volatile. Change what needs changing, but keep the rhythm steady; stay in the center of the gyroscope. Watch sudden impulses and keep safety first.

THURSDAY, AUG. 2: Repair recently frayed relationships as the mood flows more steadily. We’re still looking backward more than forward, but can use today’s ease to heal, communicate, transport, and make progress. Contact astrologer Heather Roan Robbins at roanrobbins.com.
