BEARINGS WANTED
I have been a subscriber since about 2000 and always enjoy the magazine. We owned a Grand Banks for many years and now have a Back Cove 37 we keep on Lake Michigan. This complaint involves the November/ December issue, but the matter that concerns me is not uniquely with that issue (or solely with your publication). There were two excellent pictorial articles, one involving the Columbia River trip and the other involving the Cuba trip. Neither article provided a map for context. This is extremely frustrating and I can’t understand the logic, if any, for not providing some sort of illustration for the routes and ports described. I can’t imagine this is a cost issue, but in any event, it is extremely annoying. Also, please keep in mind most of your readers are probably like me whose eyesight isn’t that great anymore. With that in mind I would appreciate it if you could give some thought to font size and contrast when you are providing captions for pictures on the face of the illustration itself. The font size for the articles is usually fine, but many of the captions are very hard to read. John Templer Blue Yonder Sturgeon Bay, WIl I also turn to maps to get my bearings on stories. We’ll make sure to include them in the future, particularly when the location is relevant to the voyage. Apologies for this, and for the sometimes barely legible type within our photo captions. We will work to improve both. Thank you. –Jonathan Cooper
