Friends of the Pea Ridge Library to begin

- MEGAN BRYANT Pea Ridge Librarian

It is with a sad heart that I tell you about the library’s water damage. With the last large rain storm, almost all of the south side of our building was flooded and damaged. We had to close for a few days to dry out and do repairs. At this point, we don’t know the extent of the damage but by the time this article is printed, we will know more. Thankfully only 20 books were damaged.

I do have some exciting news. We are starting Friends of the Pea Ridge Library! Already there has been much interest. If you love the library and understand the value it has to our community and would like to make a difference here in Pea Ridge, this is the perfect group for you. We will have our first meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Please come, it is sure to be an exciting time. The possibilities are endless!

The Library staff and Board members would like to give a big thank you to Pea Ridge Self Storage for letting us use a unit free of charge. We are thankful of your kindness.

We are getting geared up for the Back to School Bash. We had some great donations this week. We will still be taking children’s book donations up to Friday, Aug. 5. I can’t wait to send some much needed books home with the children in our community.

Mercy Hospital will be sending out doctors every month to educate our community. Is there something you would like to learn more about? Please contact Megan Bryant at the library. Call 479-451-8442 or send an email to megan.bryant@cityofpearidge.com.

“I think of life as a good book. The further you get into it, the more it begins to make sense,” Harold Kushner wrote.
