Labor Day Breakfast served

GARFIELD — The NEBCO Fire-EMS Labor Day Country Breakfast is 7-10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, in the NEBCO Community Center.

Picnic slated

AVOCA — The Benton County Libertaria­ns are sponsoring a charity picnic on Sept. 10 in the Avoca City Park. There will be free food and soft drinks. Avoca will showcase the park which includes paved walking trails, disc golf course, a children’s playground, little library, soccer field, basketball court and plenty of room to enjoy a family picnic or fly a kite.

Numerous charities will be on site to let people in the community know what services they provide and how they can help each other. Also on site will be members of the Avoca Volunteer Fire Department, who will also be filling the boot for MDA; NEBCO Fire-EMS, who will be conducting free blood pressure checks; VFW Post 3031, who will conduct a poppy drive to help veterans in need; Veteran’s Motel; American Diabetes Associatio­n; American Heart Associatio­n; American Red Cross; NWA Food Bank; NWA Women’s Shelter; and Benton County Beekeepers.

The event is free for everyone.
