Jon D. Hershberger
Jon D. Hershberger, 83, died Dec. 3, 2016, at Circle of Life Legacy Village Hospice in Bentonville. He was born Jan. 21, 1933, in Enid, Okla., to Elmer and Virginia Hershberger.
When Jon was 5, he moved with his family to southeast Kansas where they engaged in farming with emphasis on the dairy.
After graduation from Girard High School, he began his ongoing experiences in the field of education which included a bachelor’s degree in Math, a master’s degree in counseling and finally a doctorate in education. He taught math, worked as a high school counselor, a high school principal and finally as superintendent of schools in Kansas. He also was in the educational field in Missouri and Arkansas after retirement.
On May 10, 1053, he and Luella White were married.
He was an avid outdoorsman, with fishing and hunting his main interest. Later in life, he had a hobby of working with stained glass and also displaying his quilt pattern designs at Silver Dollar City. Those quilt pattern designs were from his mother who had saved them from the Kansas City Star newspaper during the 1930s.
Survivors include his widow, Luella of the home; two children, Janice Ruth (Hershberger) and husband, Dan of Pea Ridge, Ark., and Dr. S.R. Hershberger of Perkins, Okla.; three grandchildren, Nicholas of Pea Ridge, Ark., Sara Harris and husband, Galen of Rogers, Ark., and Danielle Wotipka of Cushing, Okla.; four great-grandchildren, Emily and William Harris, Sadie Wotipka and Camryn Hagler; and one brother, Vernon Hershberger and wife, Myrna of Girard, Kansas, and their five children.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel, 2898 W. Walnut St., Rogers, Ark., with Galen Harris, grandson through marriage, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Bella Vista Sportsman Club or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Ronald Harvey Shelton Sr.
Ronald Harvey Shelton Sr., 75, of Pea Ridge, died Monday, Dec. 5, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born Jan. 8, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., to William Harvey Shelton and Viola Sophia Krumpus Shelton.
He coached Little League baseball and high school baseball, and enjoyed driving race cars and go-carts at area tracks for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth Shelton of the home; eight children, Cindy Sue Shelton of Chicago, Ill., Michael Scott Shelton of Florida, Ronnie Shelton of Pea Ridge, Jason Shelton of Okinawa, Japan, Christopher Roberts of Florida, James Dixon Jr. of Pea Ridge, Michael Dixon of Pea Ridge, Tammy Landis of Pea Ridge; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge. No services are planned at this time.
