Carolyn A. Higginbotham
Carolyn A. Higginbotham, 80, died Jan. 22, 2017.
Mrs. Higginbotham, affectionately known as “Miss Higgy,” served 26 years on staff at Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tenn., where she was a member since 1973. Positions held at Bellevue included director of Graded Choirs, Production Costumes and Banners, and director of the Prayer Ministry. Prior to serving at Bellevue, Mrs. Higginbotham was a professional dressmaker for Halpern’s Fabrics in Memphis. Mrs. Higginbotham also taught the Philathea Sunday School class for 40 years and the Women of the Word class for five years.
Her family was more than those connected by birth or marriage. She also leaves thousands of graded choir children, scores of banner men and women, prayer ministry partners, graded choir staff, costume seamstresses, fellow Bellevue church staff members, faithful Sunday school members, her beloved “Monday Nighters” as well as thousands of other “Special Persons.”
She was preceded in death by Charles L. Higginbotham, her husband of 53 years.
Survivors are her children, Suzanne (David) Dickey of Pea Ridge, Ark., and Eddie (Kenya) Higginbotham of Bartlett, Tenn.; her sister, Beverly Black of Memphis, Tenn.; and her grandchildren, Kyle and Heidi Higginbotham of Bartlett, Tenn.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, in the Worship Center at Bellevue Baptist Church.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, in the worship center at Bellevue Baptist Church.
