Golf benefit scheduled

The Pea Ridge Fraternal Order of Police is hosting a benefit golf tournament (four-man scramble) on Friday, April 21, at Big Sugar Golf Course.

Mulligen (2) and Tee Blaster packages are available for $20 per golfer. All packages include range balls, lunch and beverages and a gift bag. Entry fee is $300.

Funds raised will be used throughout 2017 to support lodge activities, such as “Shop with a Cop,” benefiting local students in need, supporting citizens in need due to disaster or emergencie­s, support for officers in need in times of crisis, and various other programs to benefit the citizens and communitie­s of Benton County. Sponsorshi­p levels are:

• Product sponsor: Gifts to be distribute­d (i.e. gift bags, silent auction) and media recognitio­n;

• $350 for silver: Hole sponsorshi­p and media recognitio­n;

• $500 for gold: Team entry, hole sponsorshi­p, media recognitio­n;

• $1,000 for corporate: Team entry, hole sponsorshi­p, special recognitio­n and post event lunch banner; and

• $3,000 for platinum: Two-team entry, keynote sponsor, hole sponsorshi­p, special recognitio­n and post event lunch banner.

April Fools’ Day Dance hosted

An April Fool’s Day Dance for the Pea Ridge Middle School children will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the Middle School cafeteria. It is sponsored by Beta Alpha. Admission is $5 per child and includes a candy bar and drink. Concession­s will be available for $1.

Easter Egg Hunt slated

The annual Beta Alpha Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 8, downtown on the Intermedia­te School grounds. Registrati­on will begin at 11:30 a.m.; the hunt will begin at noon. The egg hunt is for children from 2- to 10-years of age. Prizes will be awarded in each age group. Categories are divided for ages 2-4, 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10.

Rain date will be April 15.

Safety first featured

“Accidents hurt, safety doesn’t” — a safety event sponsored by the Pea Ridge Optimist Club — is slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, April 20, in the Pea Ridge Middle School cafeteria, according to president John Lasater.

Speakers at the event include Alan Bland, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, boat and water safety; B.J. Heilman, Ozark Mountain Trading Co., recreation­al kayaking and safety tips; and Sallyann Brown, fly fishing expert, basic techniques for tying all types of flies. The event is free to the public.
