Thursday, May 11 Baseball Class 4A at Lonoke Pea Ridge 5, Jonesboro 2

Jakota Sainsbury scattered four hits and struck out 10 to lead the Blackhawks to a first round win on Thursday.

Sainsbury went 6 1/3 innings and walked just two to earn the win. Tyler Odell earned the save for Pea Ridge.

Odell led the Blackhawks’ offense, going 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Zaine Holley also homered and Westin Church was 2-for-3.

The Blackhawks will take on Malvern at 5:30 p.m. in the quarterfin­als.

Softball Class 4A at Lonoke Pea Ridge 4, Mena 0

Junior right-handed pitcher Stephanie Chase pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Lady Blackhawks into the 4A state quarterfin­als. They play Stuttgart, the top seed from the 4A-East Region, at 3 p.m. today in Lonoke.

Sophomore Hollyn Davis put Pea Ridge (28-4), the second seed from the 4A-West, on the scoreboard after reaching on a leadoff walk in the first inning. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kieara Bryant before scoring on a pair of passed balls.

Senior Quinley Roses hit a tworun double to push lead to 3-0 in fifth. Davis then drove in Avery Dayberry, who was hit by a pitch, for insurance run in the sixth.

Chase allowed five hits, struck out eight and walked one in seven innings. She helped herself out by starting double plays to end the fourth and sixth innings.

Saturday, May 13 Baseball

Pea Ridge 1, Malvern 2

The Blackhawks got a stellar pitching performanc­e from Tyler Odell, but could not muster enough run support in a tough one-run loss Saturday.

Odell allowed just four hits and struck out eight.

Hayden Holtgrewe was 1-for-2 with a double and drove in Pea Ridge’s only run.

The Blackhawks finished the 2017 season with a record of 22-8.

Lady Blackhawks Softball Pea Ridge 4, Stuggart 7

Quinley Roses: 2 hits, 2 runs scored

Brittany Harmon: 2 hits Avery Dayberry: 1 hit Dominique Burwell: 1 hit Stephanie Chase pitched complete games, striking out five, allowed nine hits.

Blackhawks finished the 2017 season with a record of 28-5.
