The Senior Ministries at Messiah Lutheran met Wednesday, May 24, to commemorate the veterans of the group. Each person shared former experiences from their years in service. Keith Escue shared his experiences of a small town boy into the Navy and then all over the world as a medic. Duane Jones shared some of his harrowing rescue missions in the great oceans saving a number of lives in the Coast Guard. Maxine Reed and Tammy Krecklow shared the experiences of their husbands in the service. Eight other reports rounded up the presentations — each with pictures and memorabilia to share. A round of thanksgiving applause was given to the veterans and to the Lord for bringing them home safely. Each family brought a potluck item to the “Mess Hall” which included: “Chow,” “Navy Beans,” “Buzzard” (chicken), “Army Strawberries” (prunes), “Bullseyes” (deviled eggs), and “Cannon Fodder” (everything else). Westside Baptist Church, 1348 Weston St., Pea Ridge, Invites Children to Ocean Commotion VBS: Diving Into Noah’s Flood!

Are your kids ready for a boatload of excitement? They won’t want to miss a minute at Ocean Commotion, the most welcoming place around.

Westside Baptist Church will host Ocean Commotion VBS from Friday, June 9, to Sunday, June 11. At Ocean Commotion, children will learn about how Noah stood for God during the time of the Great Flood as they enjoy songs, crafts, games, goodies and dramas. At this monumental Vacation Bible School program, children will dive deep into Noah’s life and the spiritual lessons he learned. Noah experienced great challenges during the time of the great flood thousands of years ago. Yet, by God’s grace, he was able to Stand for God, Obey God, Trust God, Thank God, and Fear God no matter what. And, along the way, the children will uncover earthly lessons from the flood: how all the animals fit on the Ark, how the flood covered the whole Earth, and how we can still see the effects of this flood today. They’ll also learn that the flood legends from around the world are based on the true account in Genesis.

Vacation Bible School at Ocean Commotion will be an ocean of fun, so contact us today. We’re calling all divers to join us for an amazing water-filled adventure.
