Skies to light up July 4th

There are several fireworks events slated for the celebratio­n of Independen­ce Day — July 4, 2017 — in the northeast Benton County area.

Freedom Fest is set for 6 p.m. Sunday, June 25, in Pea Ridge on the grounds of the First Assembly of God Church on Weston Street. There will be free food, music, bounce houses, games and fireworks will be displayed at dark.

In addition, the 16th annual Ventris Trail’s End Resort fireworks display will begin at dark on Saturday, July 1. The display is visible by boat on Beaver Lake.

“If you have a boat or know someone who does, come out and see a terrific firework display, with mu- sic on Saturday evening, July 1,” said sponsor Jody Simrell. “This display is free to the public.”

Fireworks will start around dark just south of marker No. 8 on Beaver Lake and are provided by Ventris Trail’s End Resort. Simrell said the show has been approved by the state, and all local authoritie­s, as well as, the U.S. Army of Corps of Engineers.

A Fourth of July Parade is planned to start at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, in Seligman, sponsored by Zeta Phi.

Lineup is to start at 4:30 pm. near Dollar General. Prizes, sponsored by the Seligman Parks Dept., are for most patriotic prizes. First place will receive $100, second prize gets $50 and third prize gets $25. Hot dogs will be served after the parade by the Chamber of Commerce. Fireworks begin at dark.
