FFA students crown Crawford

- JESSICA MCMAHON Special to The TIMES

The Pea Ridge FFA Chapter had a busy week before school let out for Spring Break.

On Thursday, March 15, students met at the school bright and early to go to Russellville for Judging Districts. At Districts, Pea Ridge had three teams competings — Livestock, Horse and Poultry. At Districts, competitors are scored as an individual and as a whole team.

The Pea Ridge FFA Livestock team placed 23rd out of 48; the Horse team placed 17th out of 43; and the Poultry team placed last in 28th place. In all we are extremely proud of the students who were willing to represent the Pea Ridge FFA.

Then on Friday, the Pea Ridge FFA had the annual Barnwarming event at the Branded K. Barnwarming is an event that invites all students to a dance, to come together, make friends, and just have fun. Included in Barnwarming was the Sweetheart Court which involves a group of ladies who vie for the queen position and people vote for the winner, just like prom king and queen.

This year there were five constants and five escorts. They were Hailee Hayes escorted by Tyson Snow, Sarah Henderson escorted by Lane Ross, Jessica McMahon escorted by Casey Moore, Megan Crawford escorted by Rhett Snyder, and Danielle Dishaw escorted by Wyatt Day. There was also a special guest — last year’s Sweetheart Tyler Cope. After a close vote, the 2017-2018 FFA Sweetheart was awarded to Megan Crawford.
