Sharon ‘Sherry’ Marie Vanhoose

Sharon (Sherry) Marie Vanhoose, 61, of Pea Ridge, formerly of Russellvil­le, died Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was born Dec. 27, 1956, to James and Charlene Claypool in Iowa City, Iowa.

She spent her childhood in Tempe, Ariz., graduated from Berryville High School in 1974, and attended Draugons School of Business in Tulsa, Okla. She and Roger Dale Vanhoose were married on Oct. 9, 1976, in Tulsa.

She worked for Child Support Enforcemen­t Services in both Oklahoma and Arkansas, and for the Getty Oil Company and Williams Entergy in Oklahoma. She retired several years ago from Arkwest Communicat­ions Inc. after 18 years of employment.

She fondly remembered her time volunteeri­ng for the Appalachia Service Project which helps lowincome families in rural Appalachia live in “warmer, safer and drier” homes and personally lived her life every day honoring their mission — “We accept people right where they are, just the way they are.” Sherry spent her retirement years traveling the country with her husband, taking care of her beloved dog Oreo, and spending time with her many friends and children who adored her. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Administra­tive Profession­als, the Northwest Arkansas Miata Club, and Bridgewate­r Memorial Church.

Survivors are her husband, Roger Dale Vanhoose, Pea Ridge; her daughter, Lauretta Marie (Jeffery Chad) Crawford, Austin, Texas; two sons, Michael James (Kimberly Brumble) Vanhoose, Weavervill­e, N.C., and Mitchell Jay (Brittany MacDonald) Vanhoose, Nashville, Tenn.; parents, James Frances and Charlene Marie (Butterbaug­h) Claypool, Berryville; and sister, Shirley (Gary) Messman, Towson, Md.

Visitation will follow the funeral service.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge with the Rev. Brian Timmons officiatin­g.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, in Rankin Cemetery in Russellvil­le under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
