Mamie Louise Tadlock, 93, of Pea Ridge, died September 19, 2018, in Innisfree Nursing in Rogers. She was born Mamie Louise Wells Nov. 3, 1924, in Tecumseh, Kan., to Edward D. Wells of New Albany, Ind., and Edyth Irene Marsh Wells of Chicago, Ill.

She was the fourth of 11 children. She graduated from Meriden High School in Meriden, Kan., and attended business school in Kansas City, Mo.

She was a World War II bride and married Merle M. Tadlock Jan. 24, 1943. Son James M. was born in March 1944. After the war, the family moved to northwest Missouri. She was employed with a cap manufactur­ing company as office manager and bookkeeper. Her daughter Jacqueline Sue Tadlock Blevins was born May 1949. In 1960, the family moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. She was employed with the Pinellas County School System. She was secretary to the director and a bookkeeper for various educationa­l programs and was certified to teach and taught business education classes. She introduced the Word Processing System, a forerunner to computers, to the adult education department. She was an active member of the County Secretarie­s Associatio­n.

After the death of her son James in 1973 she continued working until 1979 when she and her husband retired and moved to Pea Ridge. She was a member of the Shady Grove Club and First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, flowers, arts and crafts, crocheting, traveling and spending time with her grandchild­ren, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Merle; son, James; sisters, Julia Melvin, Dorothy Eisermann, Ruth Lukehart and Mary Rodecap; and four brothers, Vernon Wells, Chuck Wells, Dewey Wells and James Wells.

Survivors are her daughter, Jacqueline Sue Tadlock Blevins and husband, Douglas R. Blevins of Rogers; two brothers, Robert (Bob) Wells and wife Charlotte, and John Wells and wife Verla, all of Meriden; a sister-in-law, Mary Wells of Centralia, Kan.; three grandchild­ren, Gina Blevins Grant and husband Kerry of Bella Vista, Douglas R. Blevins Jr. and wife Tonya of Harrison, and Megan Blevins Thacker and husband Chris of Knoxville, Tenn.; five greatgrand­daughters, Makayla and Makinzie Stanphill and Malia, Lindi and Kelci Blevins; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was at 10 a.m. Monday before the service in the funeral home.

Memorial service was 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, in Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge with Pastor Al Fowler officiatin­g.

Burial will be at a later date in the VA National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le.
