New Chamber of Commerce president Fred McKinney installed Saturday represented the community Monday at the Bentonville Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Sunday, Oct. 20, was the biggest day, visitation-wise, that the Pea Ridge Military Park has had during the year. A total of 2,020 persons filed through the main gate, according to park officials.

Community cooperation will complete the comfort facilities at the Pea Bowl, the Blackhawks’ football stadium. The original concession stand was built in 1977 by the Pea Ridge Kiwanis Club.
Pea Ridge Volunteer Fire Department members reported a net of approximately $625 received to date from the country western jamboree.

Fire Chief Allen Merritt resigned early. As of Oct. 1, Pea Ridge has a new fire chief. Jerry Collins, assistant fire chief, was sworn in as fire chief by Mayor Mary Rogers.
City Council members heard a complaint against the Police Department. Marshal Kelly Wallace and police officer Billy Joe Musgrove were at the City Council meeting to answer the complaint.

Pea Ridge Water and Sewer superintendent Robert Button said he is pleased with the results he is getting from the eight new aerators installed during the summer the sewage treatment plant. The cost of the installation was just under $49,000.
City employees will benefit from the decision to revise the retirement plan. The city will pay more toward their retirement than before, while employees will have a little less coming out of their paychecks. The council also approved a retirement plan for the police officers. LOPFI is the only choice of retirement plan available to the city for its policemen and firemen.

Three bomb threats in less than a week, two in one day and an arrest in connection with the latter consumed school and police officials. A special meeting of the Pea Ridge School Board to consider an expulsion hearing is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at the high school.
A $1 million bond for improvements for the water and sewer system for the city was approved at last week’s City Council meeting, following a brief public hearing. The money is to be used to rehabilitate the old lines and construct new lines.
