-

Two Garfield men were booked into the Benton County Jail Thursday, Sept. 19, by Benton County Sheriff’s deputies.

According to the jail log, at 6:18 p.m. Richard Dale Goad II, 35, Garfield, was booked in connection with third-degree assault.

At 6:28 p.m., Richard Dale Goad Sr., 76, Garfield, was booked in connection with felony rape and felony second-degree sexual assault. He was still in Benton County Jail Monday, Sept. 23, in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Benton County Sheriff’s deputies were notified of a hotline call from the Arkansas State Police regarding sexual abuse of a minor female by Richard Dale Goad Sr. According to the PC, there had been other incidents. The child, as well as other children from the home, reported having been touched on their private parts.

The affidavit of probable cause leading to the arrest of the younger Goad states that on Aug. 29, deputies received a report of a disturbance at 17450 Gann Ridge Rd. in which Dale Dopp stated that his neighbor, Richard Dale Goad II, had threatened him with a shotgun.

According to the PC, Dopp said he is the landowner of the house Goad rents from him and he was late on his payment and he wanted him out. He said Goad was cutting down a small tree/bush without permission.

Goad told deputies he did not threaten Dopp with a gun and was cutting the bush because deputies had told him several days ago to “clean up the property.”

The younger Goad bonded out of jail.
