Band students selected to Region Honor bands
The Pea Ridge Band had 16 students selected to the ASBOA Region 6 Honor Band and three students selected to the Region Honor Jazz Band. Seven of those students also qualified to audition for the ASBOA AllState Honor Band and Jazz Band.
On Nov. 11, students from ASBOA Region 6 came to Pea Ridge High School to audition for the Junior and Senior High Honor Jazz Bands. Pea Ridge had three students selected to the senior high jazz band: Dillon Brouse, first Band, first Chair Drumset; Layton Powell, second Band, first Chair Trumpet; and Kyle Telgemeier, second Band, second Chair Bass Guitar. Dillon, Layton and Kyle attended the honor jazz band clinic the following weekend at Rogers-Heritage High School.
On Dec. 14, band students, grades 7-9 traveled to Fulbright Middle School in Bentonville to audition for the ASBOA Region 6 Junior High Honor Band. Pea Ridge had four students selected to the band: Maren Christensen first Band, eithth Chair Flute; Ava Clark, second Band, ninth Chair Flute; Caleb Johnson, second Band, ninth Chair Trombone; and Connor Gartrell, second Band, fourth Chair Euphonium.
On Jan. 18, band students, grades 10-12 traveled to Mountain Home High School to audition for the ASBOA Region 6 Senior High Honor Band. Pea Ridge had 12 students selected to the band: Morgan Humphrey, first Band, second Chair Flute; Elsaysha Ewald, first Band, sixth Chair Flute; Stephanie Harris, second Band, ninth Chair Flute; Sydney Pejsa, second Band, sixth Chair Clarinet; Joseph Sanders, second Band, 10th Chair Clarinet; Christian Carreira, second Band, 12th Chair Clarinet; Bradley Dean, second Band, first Chair Bass Clarinet; Joshua Starner, second Band, fourth Chair Alto Saxophone; Layton Powell, second Band, second Chair Trumpet; Jeremiah Wachtel, second Band, second Chair Trombone; Tate Christensen, second Band, first Chair Tuba; and Taylor McCaslin, first Band, third Chair Percussion.
The students then attended the region honor band clinics for both the junior high and senior high students the following weekend, Jan. 24-25, at Bentonville West High School. Senior high students Morgan Humphrey, Elsaysha Ewald, Bradley Dean, Layton Powell, Jeremiah Wachtel and Taylor McCaslin all qualified to audition for the ASBOA All-State Honor Band. Dillon Brouse qualified to audition for the ASBOA AllState Jazz Band. All-State auditions were scheduled to be held at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Feb. 7-8.
