Public servants

- Sgt. John Langham

Detective Sgt. John Langham has been involved in law enforcement for 18 years, 13 of which have been with the Pea Ridge Police Department.

He said what he most likes about his job in Pea Ridge is“I enjoy the opportunity to help others, to seek justice for those who are wronged by others, and to protect the public from the evils of the world.”

The best thing about his time in Pea Ridge is:

“I think the relationships I’ve been able to build with many in our community is the best part.”

Originally from the Gulf Coast, Langham moved to northwest Arkansas in the early ’90s.

He started his career in law enforcement with the Rogers Police Department as a 9-1-1 dis- patcher when he 19 and then moved into the role of crime scene technician where he processed many major crime scenes, operated an in-house forensic lab, and assisted with the management of the evidence room.

“I’d honestly never been to Pea Ridge until the day I first interviewed at the old police department located inside the fire department complex. Thirteen years later, Pea Ridge feels more like home than most anywhere, having watched the town and the police department grow and evolve over the years. I’ve spent nine total years patrolling the streets of Pea Ridge as a beat officer, three more serving as a school resource officer and supervisor, and this is my first year serving as the detective for our agency,” he said.

“I hold additional duties of evidence unit supervisor, in-house IT systems manager, lead crisis negotiator, and crisis intervention team specialist. Outside the office, I’m a licensed commercial pilot and I enjoy sailing, fishing, and playing just about any instrument someone puts in my hands.”

“It’s been a pleasure to serve you the last 13 years and I hope to continue serving you for the next decade, too,” Langham concluded.

The TIMES is honoring the public servants — police, fire, ambulance — who serve this community 24-hours a day, seven days a week 365 days a year to provide a safe, pleasant community in which to live.
