The hours for the Food Coupon Office in Bentonville changed.
The Pea Ridge Schools will open for the 1970-71 term on Monday, Aug. 24, according to school superintendent Andrew Widener. The back-to-school edition of the Graphic is scheduled for next week, Aug. 20.
The Pea Ridge Little League awards will be presented Saturday night following the Pee Wee All-Star game. The awards include the winning teams and outstanding players.

A spontaneous special fund drive by the people of Pea Ridge has begun manifesting itself for the erection of a pavilion at City Park. This was among a number of subjects discussed at Thursday night’s monthly meeting of the Pea Ridge Park Commission.
Ken Ford, driver, and Lee Hennagan, both members of the NEBCO volunteer Fire Department, were injured when a fire truck they were in overturned Saturday as they were answering a call to a grass and brush fire five miles out on Slate Gap Road.
Pea Ridge Police Chief Loyd Pifer Tuesday termed the bomb threat phone calls being received this week by Pea Ridge residents are “hoax calls” and suggested that anyone receiving such calls report them immediately to the Police Department and not be too frightened.

The problems that have plagued Pea Ridge Ambulance service will soon be alleviated if things go as planned, according to Mayor Mary Rogers. She said a possible solution might be discussed tonight at the regular meeting of the Pea Ridge City Council. The ambulance service and the Fire Department have an annual operating budget of $28,500. It is currently headed by Fire Chief Jerry Collins.
Members of the Pea Ridge School Board approved the recommendation of superintendent Marvin Higginbottom to work toward elementary and high school accreditation through the Comprehensive Outcome Evaluation program that is mandated by the state. He said the COE process of accreditation is “one gigantic process.”
In October, Randy Bryant will take over the School Board seat that will be vacated by Doug McKinney who did not file for reelection. Bryant was the only person to file for the fiveyear term.
The honorary chairman of this fall’s second annual
Pea Ride Lions Cub International Mule Jump said he expects as many as 6,000 people to attend the event. The Mule Jump will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, in the City Park.
Harry Palmer thinks that there are more deserving families in the area and that Benton County has very good farm families. Palmer, his wife, Judy, and sons David and Marcus, were named 1990 Benton County Farm Family of the Year.

The owner of the Harrison Daily Times and the
Boone County Headlight in Harrison and the Newton County Times in Jasper announced the papers ave been sold to Community Publishers Inc. of Bentonville. CPI is the parent company of The Benton County Daily Record in Bentonville and The Northwest Arkansas Times in Fayetteville.
Pea Ridge Schools rejected transfer requests from four families at Monday night’s meeting because enrollment is at capacity in fifth and sixth grades. With pre-school enrollment filling fifth and sixth grades, the School Board members told parents that their requests for transfer from Rogers into the Pea Ridge district for students in those grades would have to be denied.
Billy Barlow came to northwest Arkansas on Wednesday from Thomasville,
Ga., to get back his wife, Brandi, and sparked an extensive manhunt in Pea Ridge.
Sugar Creek LLC, Northwest Arkansas Development Group, announced that construction of Big Sugar Golf Club in Pea Ridge has begun. An 18hole championship golf course winding through the Little Sugar Creek valley will be the centerpiece of a major real estate development. After making is intentions known last month, Pea Ridge Fire Chief David Bass is expected to resign at next Tuesday’s meeting of the Pea Ridge City Council.

Rushing to the scene of a reported medical emergency, emergency medical responders can loose valuable time when they struggle to find the address on a building. Several buildings in town — commercial as well as residential — have no address visible from the street, Fire Chief Frank Rizzio said.
GATEWAY — Music will resound through Gateway Park Labor Day weekend at the annual Gateway Picnic set for Saturday, Sept. 4. Southern Raised, a bluegrass family band out of Hurley, Mo., is scheduled to perform.
Taylor Young of Pea Ridge was crowned Madison County IPRA Rodeo Princess.
The 2010 Benton County Fair will be bittersweet for Sarah Meyers of Garfield. This year will be the Pea Ridge High School’s last year to show her animals.
