50 Years Ago Pea Ridge Graphic Vol. 5 No. 46 Thursday, Nov. 12, 1970

A “Salute to Agricultur­e” has been selected as the theme for this year’s annual Chamber of Commerce installati­on dinner slated for Dec. 5 in the Pea Ridge Elementary School cafetorium. New officers to be installed are John Knox, president; Tim Wood, vice president; and Eva Patterson, secretary.

A young Bentonvill­e policeman apprehende­d and arrested four burglary suspects in the pre-dawn hours before the burglaries were known to the store owner. City Marshal Al Koenke was notified of the arrest and told some of the items were from Pea Ridge. Koenke met John Easley, owner of White’s Auto Store and together discovered two windows and a door glass broken and items including guns, ammunition, tools and other items missing.

40 Years Ago Pea Ridge Graphic-Scene Vol. 15 No. 46 Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1980

Pea Ridge Police Chief Loyd Pifer reported that a rabid skunk had been killed just north of Pea Ridge last weekend. Pifer advised people to be sure their pets are vaccinated.

The Pea Ridge Chamber of Commerce plans to meet Nov. 18, according to president Wayne Ellington, who said new officers will be elected.

Mrs. Jackie (Ivy) Patterson and her daughter, Cindy, 15, were injured in a one-ar accident Friday on Arkansas Highway 72 at the foot of Sugar Creek hill between Pea Ridge and Bentonvill­e.

Lanette Tillman began working for the TIMES as a correspond­ent for the Gateway, Seligman and Garfield areas.

Pea Ridge Mayor Lester Hall administer­ed the oath of office to Earle Jines for membership on the city’s Park Commission.

30 Years Ago Pea Ridge Country Times Vol. 25 No. 46 Thursday, Nov. 15, 1990

Pea Ridge Police Chief Sam Holcomb said the police will not responded to calls outside the city limits except when a fellow police officer is in need of assistance. The police is effective immediatel­y. Holcomb said he consulted with Mayor Mary Rogers before issuing a memorandum to city officials.

The Community Choir of Northeast Benton County will present its Thanksgivi­ng musical Sunday, Nov. 18, in Pea Ridge Pentecosta­l Holiday Church under the direction of choir director Stephen Brubaker, minister of music and youth at First Baptist Church.

Pea Ridge Mayor Mary Rogers, re-elected to a second four-year term last week by a margin of 93 votes, said she hopes the citizens will become more

involved with city government.

Incumbent Leo Lynch’s pick for his seat won in Tuesday’s election. Longtime justice of the peace Lynch, who opted not to seek re-election, endorsed Jerry Sheridan, who beat Earl Boen for the seat in District 3 by a vote of 2,108 to 1,604.

10 Years Ago The TIMES of Northeast Benton County Vol. 45 No. 46 Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 Reviewing a nearly $5 million budget, Pea Ridge City Council members met for a committee of the whole meeting Monday for nearly three hours reviewing the city budget line by line with each city department head.
