Lena ‘Irene’ Jones

-

Lena “Irene” Jones, 82, of Centerton died Jan, 27, 2021, of heart failure at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark. She was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Rogers, to O.B. Collins and Daisy Anna (Price) Collins.

She worked at Daisy, Bear Brand, CTS and Walmart. Retiring several years ago, she enjoyed being with family and taking road trips. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1956 (Go Mountaineers!) and loved attending monthly luncheons with her classmates and going to reunions. She was the first female vice president of FBLA (1956).

She lived life big, loved everybody and loved to talk! She never met a stranger. She loved to go to church and faithfully attended the gospel singings, where she was a member, at Come and Dine Ministries, in Centerton. She was notorious for her homemade chicken and noodles, sausage balls and deviled eggs. She passed down the art of making noodles to her granddaughters.

She gave her life totally over to Jesus at 80 years old and at her request was baptized in the hospital just hours before she left for Heaven, her eternal home. Her children were active in her life trying to keep her safe and were gathered around her bedside as she passed. She was a woman of faith and dearly loved her family. We miss her already.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Ralph Collins; a son, Dennis Jones; and faithful K-9 companion, Scrappy.

Survivors are a son Danny (Jo) Jones of Bentonville, Ark.; a daughter, Debbie (Emmett) Rhodes of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Vickie (J.R.) Robertson of Centerton, Ark.; three grandchildren Christine (Philip) Ward, Justin Robertson and Ashley (Adam) Aufleger; four great grandchildren, Jordan and Hannah Ward, Hayden and Hunter Aufleger); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, in Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers.

Celebration of life was 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, in Benton County Funeral Home, 306 North 4th St, Rogers, AR 72756.
