Student groups honored at School Board meeting
Several student performing arts groups were honored at the Pea Ridge School Board Monday, April 8.
School superintendent Keith Martin, referring to the play performed by the Drama Department recently, said: “‘Sense & Sensibility’ was outstanding. It’s hard to make a 200-year-old play relevant, but they did.”
“What I’m most proud of over the past year is our three directors working together providing better opportunities for our students and it shows in the quality of programs that they’re offering,” Martin said.
Mrs. Alexandra Mann Elmore, theater director, said there were 801 tickets sold to “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.” She said there were 37 students involved in “Sense & Sensibility.”
She said the Winter/Color Guard, took them to championships this weekend and earned third place over all in their division at the Mid-Continent Colorguard Association championships. They were directed by Hayley Hook with assistance from Adam Hajeh. The guard received third place in their division at the Mid-Continent Colorguard Association championships.
In March, Eubanks said she took six choirs to Region Choral Performance assessment, two junior high and four high school ensembles, all scored superior for on stage performance and then four received superior for their sight-reading (music literacy). Those choirs include the Pea
Ridge Jr. High Chorus; Pea Ridge Jr. High Select Choir; Pea Ridge Sr. High Treble Choir; PRHS Seniors; PRHS Theater Ensemble; and PRHS Chamber Choir.
