THROUGH 10/2 Mohamed Bourouissa: Urban Riders

The Barnes Foundation presents the first solo exhibition in Philadelph­ia by Algerian native and adopted Parisian, Mohamed Bourouissa. Urban Riders includes 85 works inspired by his collaborat­ion with the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club in North Philadelph­ia.

9/2-3 Made in America Festival

Skip the Shore and stick around town for Made in America. Now in its sixth year on the Ben Franklin Parkway, headliners J. Cole and The Chainsmoke­rs take the stage alongside festival founder Jay Z for one of Philly’s most red-white- and-blue music events.

9/7-24 Fringe Festival

Because two weeks just isn’t enough, Fringearts rolls out an 18- day lineup of contempora­ry performanc­es. Concerts, digital art and improv are only a few of the many events being held across the city.

9/8-11/16/18 Parkway 100

This month kicks off a yearlong celebratio­n timed with the 100th anniversar­y of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. First up: an after- dark art installati­on inspired by the Parkway’s fountains.

9/9-10 The Mushroom Festival

Known as the mushroom capital of the world, Kennett Square hosts its 32nd annual festival dedicated to the famous fungus with more than a mile’s worth of music, contests, culinary events, and more than 250 food and craft vendors.

9/9-11 Julius Erving Golf Classic

NBA icon Dr. J returns to the City of Brotherly Love for his third annual golf tournament. The Monday golf tournament at the ACE Club caps off a three- day event that includes a youth basketball clinic and black-tie gala.

9/16-11/19 Mural Arts Philadelph­ia’s Monument Lab Opening

Join the City of Philadelph­ia in a town-wide talk about culture. Spanning nine weeks, Monument Lab celebrates public art and history by placing 20 temporary artwork pieces throughout the 215.
