TASTE OF THE TOWN
Situated in the heart of historic downtown Phoenixville sits Taste, Sand Castle Winery’s new, highly stylized vegan restaurant designed by famed NYC designer Dean Arcuri. Leap years away from heaping platefuls of raw kale and grilled portabellos, Taste uses gourmet products from Herbivorous Butcher—the world’s first meatless, plant-protein-based butcher— and chef Theo Charitos’ plates are decidedly of the this-tastes-just-like-kobe variety. “We sought to form a concept that provides a savory, gourmet menu which satisfies both the die-hard and reluctant vegan,” says managing partner Chad Sletten. Standout dishes include a blackened rib-eye with crispy potatoes and bourbon ketjap, and Portuguese chicken and sausage with black bean cake and braised baby kale. The Laos street tacos with Lao sausage, sweet and spicy pico, Sriracha honey and avocado are a must-try. 236 Bridge St., 484.924.9530, sandcastlewinery.com/taste-phoenixville
