Man facing terror charges
MILWAUKEE — A Madison, Wis., man has been charged with trying to travel to Syria or Iraq to join the Islamic State terrorist group.
Joshua Ray Van Haften, 34, was charged in federal court with attempting to provide material support and resources — “namely himself as personnel” — to a foreign terrorist organization.
He was arrested at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago on Wednesday evening after landing on a flight from Turkey, where he had been detained since the end of October by that country’s immigration authorities.
