Highmark 2014 executive compensation detailed
Highmark Health CEO David Holmberg made $2.15 million in total 2014 compensation, according to paperwork filed with the state Department of Insurance. He was CEO from June onward, replacing fired Highmark CEO William Winkenwerder on May 21. Highmark’s filing reports that Mr. Holmberg made $982,290 in base pay, plus $1.6 million in bonuses and other compensation in 2014. The company’s former board chairman, Robert Baum, made $123,967 last year for his board service. Highmark Health operates a nonprofit Blue Cross Blue Shield health plan and a regional hospital network.
United Way to provide 601 veterans free bus passes
United Way of Allegheny County said it raised more than $180,000 to provide bus passes to 601 local veterans. Each veteran will receive bus passes to cover public transportation for three months.
Pirates reimbursed $2.8M for PNC Park improvements
The Pirates are being reimbursed $2.8 million for control room improvements made at PNC Park. Pittsburgh-Allegheny County Sports & Exhibition Authority board members approved the reimbursement at their meeting Thursday. Overall, the team spent $5.7 million on the improvements, including video and sound equipment components.
URA board approves contract to put LED lighting in garages
Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority board members approved Thursday a $1 million contract with Allegheny City Electric to install LED lighting at five URA-owned garages at SouthSide Works and the Pittsburgh Technology Center. The upgrades are expected to save $171,000 a year in energy cost savings and another $23,000 annually in maintenance while enhancing lighting quality. The URA is partnering on the project with the Green Building Alliance, which is contributing a $165,922 grant toward the effort. Also, the board gave preliminary approval to the sale of a parking lot at Harvard Square and North Beatty Street in East Liberty for $924,000 to the developer of the Hotel Indigo for use by guests.
