Family Film Guide
The Post-Gazette reviews movies from a family perspective:
‘The Longest Ride’
Rated: PG-13. Suitable for: Teens and above.
What you should know: This is based on the Nicholas Sparks novel, and it tells the story of two couples. One pair meet in 1940s North Carolina and the other, a bull rider and a college senior, in the present day. The cast includes Scott Eastwood (Clint’s son), Britt Robertson, Alan Alda, Jack Huston and Oona Chaplin.
Language: One use of profanity and less than a handful of milder words.
Sexual situations and nudity: Everything from passionate kisses to a steamy shower scene, partial view of a man’s naked behind and a couple in bed, all unmistakable but discreet.
Violence and scary situations: A fiery car crash that leaves the driver injured, some brief World War II battle scenes, cowboys bucked off furious bulls, vague references to anti-Semitism in Europe before World War II and the death of a couple of characters.
Alcohol and drug use: Adults with beer, champagne or wine and one college student who is drunk.
